Center launches 2009 Great American Main Street Awards™ competition
For the first time in three years, the National Trust Main Street Center is inviting downtown and neighborhood commercial districts from across the nation to compete for the title of Great American Main Street.
Application information is now available. The deadline for preliminary applications is July 16, 2008. Semifinalists will be chosen in August and will be asked to submit additional supporting documents. The awards will be announced on March 2, 2009 at the National Main Streets Conference in Chicago.
Main Street Programs that received National accreditation in both 2007 and 2008 are eligible to apply. We will be notifying the elibible programs via email shortly. If you want to check whether you are eligible, you can find out on our online listing of National Main Street Programs.

2008 Main Street Leadership Award Winners
On March 31, 2008, during the Opening Plenary of the National Main Streets Conference in Philadelphia, Doug Loescher, director of the National Trust Main Street Center, presented the following three awards for individuals and organizations that have demonstrated long-term support of the Main Street movement.
